Check out this great piece from The Cincinnati Business Courier detailing what’s next for Melt, by Hannah McCartney.
“A popular Northside restaurant will expand in 2017 to a space just across the street.
Melt Eclectic Cafe, owned by Wellmann’s Brands, will relocate to a 3,000-square-foot space in the Gantry across the street in early 2017, according to a press release from Wellmann’s Brands. The deal was brokered by Kathleen Norris of Urban Fast Forward.
Lisa Kagen, left, and Molly Wellmann, right, in front of Melt’s current location in Northside. Wellmann’s Brands acquired Melt and Picnic & Pantry, which were both owned by Kagen.
The expansion will accommodate significantly larger crowds, an expanded menu, more jobs, and, perhaps most importantly to Wellmann’s Brands’ co-owner Molly Wellmann, a full-service bar with craft cocktails.
“We’ve dreamed of being able to serve fantastic craft and classic cocktails at Melt since day one, but wasn’t possible at the current location because of space constraints,” she said. “We will be able to complement our current eclectic menu by offering handcrafted drinks, craft beer and wine to better serve our loyal customers and friends.
Wellmann will be responsible for creating a cocktail menu that pairs will with food items. She says that loyal customers can expect to see all their favorite items at the new location, and that they’re planning to carry over Melt’s “funky” interior vibe into the new space.
“That’s why we bought the business,” she said. “We’re excited to continue the legacy in Northside.”
Melt also is considering future expansion plans.
The Gantry is a newly rehabbed four-story mixed-use development space at the corner of Blue Rock Street and Hamilton Avenue in Northside. It has a total of 8,000 square feet of retail space and 131 apartments.
In addition to Melt, Wellmann’s Brands also owns The Famous Neon’s Unplugged, Japp’s Since 1879, Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar, Myrtle’s Punch House and Bottle & Basket, which recently was rebranded from “Picnic & Pantry” to honor the addition of carry-out alcohol to its arsenal.”
